China, with around 7,000 sq meters floor area and two floors on various levels. It targets the public, including locals, travelers, and artists around the world. It celebrates traditional northern Chinese culture and rural artistic expression. The concept of "Crevice" metaphorically represents the local winding landscape scene of mountains beyond mountains where the project is located. The serendipity is brought by the essence of the waterway and stepping building levels along with topographic changes that are traveling through the building are not only the framework of the program and circulation but also a tool to create new perspectives, a dialogue between visitors and space, and guidance to the ascetic, time-suspended culture of inner peace. The design integrates into the local landscape while appearing as a natural extension of the earth. It's also a contemporary reflection of the long and profound influence of ancient history and spirit. The crevice is where light can be cast through hard rocks, as this project is a place deeply rooted in tradition and nurturing something new. The Form / Crevice was inspired by the "Mashi Hill" and the local winding landscape scene where the giant triangle shadows cast from mountains beyond mountains. The Texture / Terrace is a symbol of both the pagoda roof and winding cultivated land. The long and profound influence of agriculture deeply rooted in the local landscape(terrace) is reflected and blended in the contemporary pattern of the roof. The ancient spirit about soil is conveyed and interpreted here and will be carried on through generations. The Space / Forest emphasizes the interaction between nature and the museum gallery. Its meticulously sculpted space creates pockets of courtyard, integrated context with natural topography, visual connections to nature, and a platform for local culture and artistic expression. The Circulation / Waterway metaphorically and literally represents the forever changing, involving, and transforming the essence of the waterway in project. It's the dialogue between visitors and authors, providing unplanned discoveries and flowing scenic changes, projecting the visitor into the ascetic, time-suspended culture of inner peace. The Crevice won Young Architects Competition “Art Museum” Golden Mentioned, Muse Design Awards 2024 Gold Winner Architectural Design - Conceptual category and London Design Awards 2024 Silver Winner Architectural Design Category. Inspired by the rugged terrain that envelops the site, the architectural design adopts materials and hues that reflect the native environment, blending seamlessly with the steep hillsides. This integration is achieved through a sculptural approach to the building’s form, challenging conventional museum architecture by merging the constructed environment with the natural world in a continuous, undulating interaction. The museum's layout is uniquely distributed, harmonizing with the mountainous site in a manner that respects and utilizes the topography to enhance visitor experience. The design is segmented into three functional zones that flow with the terrain: the entrance plaza featuring rentable artist studios promotes active engagement between artists and visitors; a communal outdoor gathering space fosters social interactions; and a strategically placed amphitheater on a steep incline offers panoramic views, making it an ideal setting for traditional Chinese performances. This distributed architectural arrangement not only optimizes the use of space but also transforms the museum into a dynamic cultural nexus that resonates deeply with its community. The main gallery, with its expansive glass façade and strategic skylights, draws in natural light, showcasing rotating exhibitions in a setting that bridges the gap between indoor art displays and the outdoor landscape. This thoughtful connection is further emphasized by the winding pathways that lead visitors upward to the smaller galleries on the second level, culminating in an open plaza that serves as both a viewing platform and a transitional space linking the various elements of the museum’s innovative design. This concept, akin to the space between human skin and internal organs, is intricately explored in this 3D-printed artwork. The piece delves into the nature of these hidden spaces, encouraging viewers to contemplate what lies within these unseen boundaries. Fairground and video game scenario the Whispering Cliffs from the RollerCoaster Tycoon, the Festival Architecture erected the horizontal layout state fair into a vertical state fair by inverting the plan with the section. The Festival Architecture locates in Bozeman, Montana, on a piece of farmland. The building serves as a fairground for the new proposed Montana State Fair that happens every harvesting season. At the fair, local farmers can sell their products, exchange knowledge, exhibit new techniques, visitors' experiences, and residents to play. The contents change yearly so that the architects of the fairground rearrange modules synchronously to provide a new experience for local residents with a proposed giant shipyard crane. The vertical layout provides the extra possibility. One side of the building provides experimental vertical farm cubes and water tanks for storing water and releasing gravity energy in winter; Catwalks through vertical structures provide an unusual experience. The project discusses the adaptability of traditional state fairs to section layout. The extension of the hotel is a deck plus its canopy, with an additional service of designing and the hotel's fence. The deck serves as a yoga class platform in the hotel, providing an additional program for the hotel's business. The design is produced with instruction from Mr. Michael Rotondi, who is my reference, the principle of RoTo Architects, and I majorly determine dimension and detail design. The extension was built in September 2021 and finished in October 2021.
